Richard Waterfield

Richard R. (“Dick”) Waterfield is the Chairman of CFC and one of its Founders. He served initially as Head Coach during the early CFC Seasons (2019-2020), and has served as an Asst to Head Coach Rob Goetz since then. He is a member of the CFC Board of Directors.

Mr. Waterfield played soccer for The Columbia University Lions in New York, a Division 1 Ivy League School. He also played starting Fly Half (Quarterback) for The Columbia University Lions Division I Rugby Team. He later played soccer for The Greek League in New York, and the Goldman Sachs Corporate Team.

Mr Waterfield graduated Canterbury High School in 1990 as Co-Captain of the Canterbury Varsity Soccer Team, which went largely undefeated during his high school tenure. He trained in the late 80’s under Coaches Greg Mauch (5 time Indiana Coach of the Year, 1998 National Coach of the Year), Bobby Poursanidis (Indiana Soccer Hall of Fame, New York Express, Detroit Rockers, Indiana Kick), and Jerry Yeagley (US Soccer Hall of Fame, Indiana Soccer Hall of Fame, 10 Big 10 Championships). He played at Canterbury alongside legend Thomas “T” Casaburo, Canterbury’s first All-American, as well as D1 players Chris Casaburo (Indiana University), J. Randall Waterfield (Harvard), Bradley David Wilson (SMU), and Jonathan M. Markoff (Mercer).
